• Curious to read about a man that has correctly predicted the future. Ray Kurzweil not only predicts it he creates it with his own products. A very complex book that challenges ones ability to step up to higher plains of thought. If you do take the plunge make sure to finish the last chapter....it's a giant step. Great book.
• While most futurist talk about the future, Daniel Burrus's main focus is to teach one how to see and use the future. The methodology he uses is to bring the reader in as a witness to a card game where the cards are predictions he has made of future technology trends. The players, each from different disciplines, play the future through thier hands. Excellent book even if 1994. Would recommend it to any CEO, executive or manager...and anyone interested in winning.
• Written in 1986, many of Rifkin's thoughts can be challenged in hind sight. However, the concept of a world without community, public and private institutions is still very much on the mark. We are a 3 legged stool that seems to be missing one leg. Take care to at least view the larger picture.
• The author of Future Shock and The Third Wave. The man with the crystal ball. Back when others were still formulating ideas of the old economy, Toffler saw global financial institution and the rise of the knowledge based economy. A must read for every business person or curious reader.

• Once again Thomas Friedman accurately nailed how the world was changing in dynamic ways. Topics from outsourcing to off shoring, 11/9/89 to 8/9/95, free trade to why certain countries are falling behind and fast. While taking you on a wild ride Thomas gives lessons that are unforgettable. I've had the opportunity to work with Nandan Nilekani and the board of directors of the highlighted company Infosys and I can see all that Thomas has described. An amazing book and one that everyone should read no mater what occupation they hold.

• Fantastic book for the experienced global practitioner as well as the novice. Friedman takes the reader through the impact of the technology revolution as it effects everything from Democracy to the markets. His mannerism in education is from the horses mouth being a writer for The New York Times.

• If you have not read the book your on your own. Sit down one weekend and find out why everyone says that Napoleon Hill created current goal setting. Andrew Carnegie, who sold his company in 1900 for $400,000,000 requested that a book be created based on the concepts of successful people. Napoleon Hill spent decades interviewing leaders and created a how to book on being successful.
• In line with Think a Grow Rich, the magic of thinking big is a "think out of the box" mentality to achieve your dreams. A great read and a motivate. |
