• I absolutely loved this book. Why, because it puts life into perspective as an athlete, father, husband, biker and human being in so many ways. Will it work for you? Who knows. As for the story of Lance and how he came to win the Tour de France it's worth reading for anyone looking to reach a goal. Found it to be a fast and easy read.

• Wow, SHAM is either a love it or hate it book and based upon my scan of the Amazon website while grabbing the image for the book, the reviews says it all. In summary the book looks at all self help guru's from Dr. Phil to Tony Robbins, Suzie to Oprah and then attempts to draw conclusions about American and how these indiviudals have created a weaker society. In some instances he's done a great job. Alcoholics Annonmous, the legal system, obesity, etc. In others, I'm not so sure. I guess my biggest negative is througout the book he's bashing everyone and then never offers a suggestion. If you know me, then you'd already realize that this book is an Awareness book however one that is somewhat misleading. It give you information (normally in hindsight), often draw conclusions and then leave the reader waiting. As a recommendation, read the book if you're not in love with Dr. Phil, Tony, Oprah, Suzie, etc otherwise pass.

• Charlie and Greg did a wonderful job in creating a parable that works. From what I've heard it's three years in the making. This is a short book that carries quite a few themes that can be used throughout life. Truly a motivation and life experience theme. If the book had a title, cover, and look of the One Minute Manager it would get a lot more traction. Worth the time to read...one night.

• This book surprised me. I was expecting a full out business book based on years of hearing the title and yet the book is a little about everything. Sales, hiring, competition, leadership etc. are combined into short 1-3 page stories and lessons from Harvey. Fromt he Mackay 66 to the 11 tips about working with an audience, he clearly offers a tremendous amount useful information. It's parts of the reason it's in personal growth, it covers so much ground. Don't worry that the book was written in 1988, it's messages are still current. Get a copy and sit down one night and just start reading, you'll not want to stop .

• Nido is an increadible man who's achieved increadible success in his life. That said, I can't say this book is neither good nor bad, it just is. It's like all the other books written on goal setting and personal achievement in Nido's framework verses the next guys. I wish I had learned more from this increadible individual.

• When I first read Acres of Diamonds years ago I had read only the presentation given by Russell Conwell. The story tells of the boundless opportunities right in one's back yard. A story so compelling that millions heard it years ago. It was the reason I had learned about it's existance. What was even more impressive is that Russell lead the same life he discussed and the first part of this book outlines his life's story. Quick read. Pick it up if you've got time.

• Almost anything by Guy Finley is a recommended purchase. However, as in most personal growth materials the same two readers hear two different messages. A step by step approach to understanding oneself and reaching their potential.

• During a difficult time in my life, I found this book and have since lent it to several friends. A unique book that gives stories to enhance your understanding of life's meanings. A tremendously enriching book that hit home when needed.
• Need we say more.
• Sometime authors just know when you need a book that gives 2 page chapters that make reading easy and enlightening. Mike George does that and more. Using both personal as well as global beliefs such as yin and yang, Karma, Buddhism and others, the book explains different methods of changing ones life. Most of the emphasis is on developing a well rounded life through the understandings of oneself. Included are a tremendous amount of exercises that can be used for both personal and corporate education. Great graphics add to it's appeal. |

• I guess one might say this is a book comprised of ideas brought about by one mans journaling. There are some great stories and themes however I had trouble carrying the message through the entire book. When done I did not see nor feel a freedon from fear. A quick read.

• You would have to have your head in the sand not to have heard of the relationship between Dr. Phil and Oprah. That noted, the book is a good old fashioned take stock of your life with lessons to boot. Like any self help book the only results come from the action of the individual and this book points directly to action and assessments. Good book in its topic and one that is worth taking the time to read.
• I enjoyed the book from page one and so will you. Here is a story of life lessons taught in the framework that one might have heard from a story teller years ago. Manny mentioned to me that he wrote the book as one of his gifts to his children...it's also a gift to all the people who read it. Well done, worth the time to read. Can't wait for the sequel.
• Don't you sometimes wonder what how people know exactly how your feeling and are able to capture it in words. Jeff has offered a great book that gives ideas on how to add value to your life. Short enough to read while delayed in an airport. Long enough to open your heart.
• Wonderful easy reading book about creating personal change. The three authors merged fantastic stories and great concepts into a process of looking at one's live. The book really gets one thinking. A recommended purchase at any stage of life.
• Great book about moving up the corporate ladder if your missing the fundamentals. The book however misses the point of being a CEO or leader of an organization. Knowing how to attend a meeting or to work on a business trip, not socialize seems a little childish. Pick up the book if your interested in a few tidbits that might be useful. Don't if you believe these are critical factors in "CEOdom"...Do a great job, be prepared, plan, organize and stay current would be a better starting point.
• Short story based on a Mexican folk tale. The Pearl questions man's values and how we are changed by the world around us. Great book to help one question their own motives.

• How to Persuade People was an unbelievable surprise. At first you'd think the book was about "the soft con job"...but it wasn't. It's about how to get others to see your way using all sorts of tools. Cool tools. Some involve imagery. Some involve magic. Some involve suggestion. In all, the book gives you a completely different perspective on how to make others follow you. Converting you into a person skilled at helping others see your point of view. A great skill. If you're tired of the same old communication books and sales strategy books this is a great book to expand your reach.
(NOTE: Mark and Joel are both friends of mine and they asked that I read a preproduction version. They both understood that I would not offer a testimonial without reading the text...uncommon in the publishing industry...I feel like I've just met the SEC rules of conduct involving disclosure.) |

• Now in its second edition, Goldratt, through the eyes of a manager helps to turn a negative situation into a bed of roses. For anyone in manufacturing involving system creation, process improvement, leadership or reorganization the book gives insight into the complex nature of strategy and implementation.
• A buzz word for the 2000's .... Six Sigma. When dealing with organizational change whether it be ISO, Malcomb Baldrige or any other strategic organizational objective the understanding is essential. Mikal Harry opens the readers eyes to teamwork in the form of Black Belts and open minded rethink concepts. The process of starting from scratch as a basis for developing better systems is being using in some of the largest organizations in the world.
• From a meal in McDonalds, Michael Gerber transforms the viewers consciousness from expressing individuality to structured growth. Systems, planning, focus help to build small organizations to institutions. A great read for the manager to the experienced planner....always a few things to rethink and relearn. His 1st book is out of print and if we could turn back the clock, I would recommend that book first.
• Dr. Shingo has taken production lines from weeks in change over to less than 2 minutes. SMED - Single Minute Exchange of Die offers the reader an engineering perspective in the rapid deployment of goods, materials and manufacturing. An excellent book that costs about $80. Valuable enough that when the book was lost by an associate we purchased another. Beware, it's tough reading and tends to be very technical. |
