Adult (2007)
1. Adult has been accepted in mainstream and will continue to grow based on the following assessments. Internet proliferation in mainstream web sites: Amazon.com, Drugstore.com, Cable and Direct TV offer the products, hotels and motels also service the industry. The question becomes what does the industry want? If you're looking for these organizations to say it from their roof tops then it's not going to happen. As a political position the industry must stop and think about where else they need acceptance as the hotel room and the home are both acceptable locations for adult content. These is no other logical location for which the industry should be fighting to gain entrance to as an industry.
NOTE: The Westin allowed the use of the entire hotel and handed out adult content when a visitor entered the premises. NOT hired help.
2. Users will for the most part want to be private. Given that adult content has only one real purpose then the act will continue to be private.
This means that you're not going to watch adult content on a plane nor will sit down at night with the family to watch a 2 hour program.
This same belief will decide the future of social networking. Adult Friend Finder and similar sites will be the most public you will see adult in the near future. The reason, the for fee will help to protect those that want anonymity
3. The Marriott Model is the future of the industry. When one visits a Marriott one can purchase adult content on cable however the invoice for the usage is listed as a movie. This "large corporation" covering for smaller purchases will allow for more users as again, anonymity is somewhat secured.
More and more larger corporations will enter in to these business models where adult is a small fraction of their portfolio enabling the profits to be gleaned from their investments. Goggle facilitate's traffic, Hilton shows it (and creates it), Target supplies it.
4. Don't worry about the platform. In today's environment you must be in all places and it's easy to do. Just realize the next generation of holographic and sensory adult content will transform the industry.
My take is that the innovation curve over the past 20 years has been pretty much the same curve. Video, CD, DCD, Internet are just shows. The next curve will give the view it's own view of the product from any angle and be tied to toys and tools that enhance the experience. MEM technology, Holographic's will be the forerunners.
NOTE: If you think the iPhone is next gen, your wrong, as the phone is actually very small to watch content, besides you'll need a stand or a hand to hold it. Tie blue tooth to the model and a pair of classes that projects the image to 44" and you've got a workable model for sensory adaptation.
5.
Brands will dominate just as in mainstream. Jenny/Playboy, Red Light, Adam and Eve, Kamasutra, Laura Berman... all names that will, just as in mainstream be able to funnel more product down the pipeline. They will be names that consumers will gravitate towards as the industry consolidates to hit the Marriott Model.
6. Sex will be FREE. Yes, it will continue to be free just as Napster changed the face of music industry. Record producers were producing albums with just two out of 12 songs worth listening to. Napster allowed individuals to chose what they believed were the songs they wished to have. Even though today you still can get free music, the same people are selecting the songs they wish to have, in high quality, and purchasing them from Apple. Yes, paying for music that is of high quality. Adult will be the same. Individuals will look for high quality and be willing to pay for it. Python created HD internet delivery and their profits went through the roof as individuals were willing to pay for the product. Red Light introduced Paris Hilton to the world and sold millions of copies even though the product was free on the net.
7. Toys must become intelligent. Heat sensors, MEM - Micro Electrical Mechanical and other such technologies must move toys from being just an in animate product. It must be connected to the experience. The next gen.
8. Prices will plunge as new models are developed however the target audience is adding tens of thousands every single week so the industry will go from 5000 people back in the days of photograph reproduction to 2 billion people in the next few decades.
If you question these facts just look at the users who've been exposed in the media over the past few decades. Even those who say it's the Devils work play with children, have affairs and purchase sex.
9. The industry can overcome hiring issues if they realize that everyone is having hiring issues. Again the Marriott Model works. If an individual is hired to create a web interface or a packaging product for another company and they then transform the product to fit the adult industry it's easy to hire individuals who are not part of the entire chain.
10. Holographic technologies and 3D technologies will revolutionize the entire adult industry as individuals can customize their experiences including the angle and image they would like to experience. Like to watch faces or feet, this newer technology will enable the view to heighten the entertainment experience.
Porn 3.0
1.0 was all print and in person. 2.0 was digital-moving and mass distribution. 3.0 is interactive and connected.
