Thanks
for all the responses. We are able to save the mats and
will lose the dust mops but are trying to replace this
loss with renting wet mops. The issue came up when Gerard
Bohan - US Postmaster manager of policies and programs
released an "Interim Custodial Cleaning Procedure" that
among other stuff states "avoid dry sweeping of floors
and dusting other surfaces. Use a vacuum cleaner... or
wet methods to clean floors and other surfaces". The TRSA
and UTSA have been very helpful and are still engaging
their contacts to clarify and change the procedures if
needed. I'll fax a copy of the procedure to David so we
can post it on the mat group web page. Let me if I can
help.....Joe

no access to US Postal regs in Canada....Chris |
I
have just finished the last 2 days going over the new interim
regs with 2 of our biggest post offices. The news is good.
It seems that we are going to be able to continue to supply
the dust mops provided that they are treated and they are
put in a bag. As long as they are treated with an attractant
it will fit their definition of a wet method. Then when
we get them back they have to be treated with a 10% bleach
solution. We are in the process of finding out what repercussions
this will have on our mops and if there is any other possible
product that we can use. One possibility is Expose II it
is manufactured by S.C. Johnson and is used by the local
hospital to deal with virus and bacteria growth. I have
been told it is similar to bleach but does not stain. I
have a MSDS sheet from the hospital and will be following
up on this.
Do you have any other news on how to handle this situation?
Please keep me in the loop.

| WINZIP
Files: A practice commonly used to compress files for
downloading and emailing is called "Zipping" the
file. The extention of the file is .ZIP and the software
needed is a $29.00 program that can be downloaded from file
www.winzip.com
Personnally, I do not use the program often, however, files
are sent to our office in this format. |
